Can we stop trying to ruin roleplaying?
I know that we people of color are such odd creatures but can we not? I’ve been enjoying it for ten years and secretly feeling bad about if half of that time because I don’t play enough POC. I’ve learned that is my choice. No one would be forced to play anything but don’t not play it because “you don’t know what to do.” Don’t make that person ghetto for your own comical purposes of making fun of people and you’re good to go. Sick of people trying to ruin a good thing over their closeted racism. And no, you’re not racist for not playing a POC but I will question you when you say “oh, I just don’t know how blacks or Asians act.”
Uh, like people.
I’ve experienced this same thing, and I feel like it is very important people look at the character, not the face claim, regardless. I’ve found when I use poc face claims, other people using poc face claims are more likely to plot with me than people who are using only white FC’s, which on one hand makes it feel like it is becoming some sort of unsaid support group where we know those characters will need the boost and even if there isn’t much to go on, we still try to make something happen.
I feel like it is also incredibly important to note that people often take pic face claims and make them white or don’t acknowledge that they aren’t white when they make their character. Like, hell you don’t have to make the character all about their race, but don’t erase that either.
And one more thing: there are plenty of poc playbys to choose from. People don’t need to excuse why they don’t want to use poc’s, but if they do the excuse should not be “there are none to choose from / they are too hard to find” because I could list at least twenty five off the top of my head, who aren’t only popular, but high profile enough to have photos of.
omg let me kiss both your faces
